It's a Toll House dating from 1820 but also a bakery- the tollkeeper (or his wife) had the use of an oven inside, possibly to sell to customers of the Toll. I painted an image of the tollkeeper in 2011, commissioned by The Sussex Heritage Trust, in the blocked-in window you see in the photograph. Dom Ramos.
